Latest Juniors News

Drayton Park juniors put behind them their recent disappointment at losing their quarter final match in the BCCS National knockout away at West Lancashire, with a win in the semi final of the Sutton & District league.

After beating Peterborough Milton away in the previous round of the BCCS, the team had progressed a stage further than ever before and the challenging links course was a fantastic setting for the players, with a number having not played links golf before. Both games went down the 18th hole (and the result could have gone either way) with the boys battling right to the end. This was an experience which will assist their golf going forward and it’s great to be able to represent the club both Regionally and Nationally.

Having finished top of the Sutton & District league, going the whole season unbeaten, including a run of 5 straight wins, the league for the first time this year is to be decided by a play off between the top 4 teams in a semi final and final.

Our juniors played a very strong Walsall team who’d finished 4th in the league, on a very wet and blustery Sunday afternoon at The Belfry. Unfortunately due to lack of light the match couldn’t be concluded but as the only uncompleted match had progressed past the 16th hole all results were declared and the match ended in a 2-2 draw and an aggregate 8-6 win to DPGC.

The boys now play Maxstoke in the final on 13th October at Aston Wood where they hope to win the league, again!

Well done all on what so far has been an excellent season.
