Dan has 2 assistant professionals, Simon Dainter and Billy Shingler. Dan, Simon, and Billy are on hand to offer expert advice and guidance on all aspects of your game from equipment to tuition.

The latest equipment from TaylorMade, Titleist, Ping and Srixon are available for trial and fitting. The Professional Shop utilises Trackman 4 launch monitor technology during the fitting process. Any custom fitting charge is discounted on the purchase of equipment.

Shoe and clothing brands that are stocked in the Professional Shop at Drayton Park are Footjoy, Under Armour, Galvin Green, JLindeberg, Glenmuir and Sunderland. Other brands are available to order.

The Professional Shop is a member of one of the industry’s leading buying groups, Foremost Golf.

Trolleys, GPS Electric Trolleys, and Buggies are available to hire from the Professional Shop and these can be reserved by telephone.

Daniel Whitby-Smith - Head PGA Professional

Dan has over 13 years’ experience in the golfing industry and became a fully qualified PGA Professional in 2017. He has picked up a vast number of playing accolades along the way, most recently qualifying for 2 DP World Tour starts in 2023, the British Masters and the ISPS Handa World Invitational. Dan has over 65 professional wins worldwide and was the first ever player to win all 4 Staffordshire major titles in 2018. In 2022 Dan represented GB & I against the USA in the prestigious PGA Cup!

Dan manages and operates Drayton Park’s Professional Shop that provides expert customer service, lessons, custom fitting, and indoor virtual golf. Dan was crowned 'Breakthrough Professional of the Year 2021' in the Foremost Golf Industry Awards, and 'Midland PGA Professional Of The Year 2022'. In 2025 Dan will take great pride in being Captain of the Midland PGA, a testament to his hard work and attention to detail.

Simon Dainter – PGA Professional

Simon has almost 10 years experience in the golfing industry and is a fully qualified PGA Professional. Simon has a passion for golf coaching and since turning pro in 2018, has looked to expand his knowledge and experience by spending time with some of the worlds leading tutors to allow him to stay at the cutting edge of golf coaching. Simon is an approachable, easy-going, knowledgeable individual and endeavours to provide high quality, personal coaching for golfers of all levels from complete beginners to full time tour players. Simon is also in charge of the junior development at Drayton Park and runs weekly sessions for juniors of all capabilities, which is proving to be very successful with a steadily growing junior section.

Billy Shingler – PGA Professional

Billy has been working in the golf industry for over 6 years. Playing as a member at Great Barr Golf Club, Billy has played golf since the age of 13. Since completing his FDSC Golf Studies Degree at the University of Birmingham, Billy is hoping to secure his PGA membership in 2024. With a keen eye for retail and business, while also being eager to coach, Billy is ready to help all of our members and visitors alike, with all aspects of their golf game. While learning more about the golf industry, Billy is also keen to continue playing and improving his standard of golf, competing in numerous Pro-Am’s and individual events annually.
